VIGGOS ROOM

With our second baby on the way, we’re getting a bit emotional over how quickly time has flown by with Viggo. At the same time, we’re definitely cherishing his growth, it is truly a gift and lots of fun to see him discovering the world around him and learning new things every day! (And of course a bit challenging at times, he is after all soon three years old with a veeery strong will:) Our new baby girl (arriving now in September!) will share the bedroom with us and we don’t think she’ll be too bothered by not having a room of her own to start with - and we’re sure Viggo will be happy to show her his room!

Here’s a little throwback to when we made Viggos room in the house, about a year ago when he was almost two. Rather than making a “kids room”, which we really don’t have any experience of - we tried to make a room for Viggo, thinking of the things he likes the most.

He really seems to appreciate pictures, he’s always very interested when we hang something new on the walls, so of course we wanted to give him that. However he’s also very interested in trying to take them down - so we found some frames which are mounted in all four corners (and have plexi instead of glass). We think kids can appreciate most art and not only pictures made specifically for kids, for example - Viggo loves Jenny o Jens pool guy!

Prints on the wall: Pool Guy from Jenny o Jens, our TRP Protector mint and Totem Animal Garden. Lamp by Swedish Ninja. Cushion covers POF dog and Totem Bird in the bed, together with wool blanket Balance of the Tiger. The wool rug is our own design, find similar ones here.

Also - he started appreciating drawing, so we put up a paper roller from Studio Drijfveer (to be used under supervision at the moment though!)

Like in all rooms, we felt in need of a mix of soft and hard. A soft carpet for lying down and reading on - but also empty floor space to play on. Lots of cushions for playing and getting cozy - but then of course lots of bricks and lego for building.

A simple but cozy nook for reading, with TRP Protector cushion cover

It will of course change over time, but at this age it seems space for playing is preferred over lots and lots of stuff (although of course there is plenty already) so we tried to keep the room not too cluttered (not an easy task if you know how we love more is more!).

Second hand toys and painting by us.

One year later, Viggo still seems to love his room, and he’s constantly coming and grabbing our hands so we all can “go play in the room!!”. Definitely the best review!
