3 TIPS FOR AN ECLECTIC LIVING SPACE

Aiming for a groovy eclectic interior but don’t know where to start?
Here is our best ideas!

  1. ALL IN THE MIX
To us, a big part of creating a fun home is really about mixing! And we really mean mixing it all - colors, textures, patterns, new and old.. For example: if you’re creating a gallery wall, try mixing framed prints with original paintings (why not make one of your own?), textile wall hangings and sculptures. This creates a cozy feeling and makes you want to stay long in the room, discovering new things as the eyes wander cross the wall. For a slightly less wild look, choose a couple of colors that reappear in a big part of the decor (it doesn’t have to be in everything). Like in this room; yellow, pink and green can be found in many places which ties it all together even if there is a lot to look at.

2. ADDING TEXTILES
Nothing beats the power of textiles when it comes to creating a cozy home environment! And remember that it doesn’t only have to be in the traditional form of carpets & curtains, adding wall hangings or even carpets to your walls can make a room feel so much more soft and inviting. And don’t be shy when it comes to cushions & blankets! Mixing different patterned cushions in the sofa creates a playful feeling, and adding a blanket to a piece of furniture can really change the whole vibe of that piece.

Tip for hanging carpets on the wall: If your walls are ok, simply use nails (around 6-8 for a small carpet) along the upper edge. Make sure to be two people while doing it, so you can take some weight off those first nails. If it’s a bigger carpet, you might have to start with a wooden joist, attach it to the wall with screws and then attach the carpet with nails to the wooden joist.

3. GO A BIT CRAZY!
If you think something might be weird or too much - try it out anyway! That’s the only possible way you’ll know if it actually works. Often the unexpected quirky things are what makes an eclectic interior. Add books, old souvenirs, your grandmas porcelain dog, pot plants... And don’t forget fresh flowers!
