Why We Care (The Philosophy)
We don’t believe in disposable trends. Our designs are small rebellions against the grayness of everyday life, intended to be lifelong companions. By focusing on quality and meaningful symbols, we encourage a "slow" approach to interior design. The most sustainable product is the one you truly love and never want to replace.
Our Materials & Certifications
We carefully select materials that balance vibrant design with strict environmental and safety standards:
• OEKO-TEX® 100 Cotton: Our jacquard-woven blankets are made from a high-quality recycled cotton blend, meet the OEKO-TEX® 100 standard, ensuring they are free from harmful substances.
• REACH Tested Bags: Our practical Protector bags are made from certified recycled polyester, are REACH tested to comply with EU chemical safety regulations.
• Recycled Marine Plastic: Our multicolored blankets are crafted using 80% recycled polyester sourced from marine waste, combined with 20% organic cotton to help protect our oceans.
• Cruelty-Free Wool: We use cruelty-free New Zealand wool for our woven blankets and our rugs made in India to ensure animal welfare.
• Eco-Friendly Inks: Our Riso prints are created using environmentally friendly soy-based inks, and our wooden masks are finished with non-toxic paints.
• Organic cotton: The majority of our cotton products are made with organic cotton.
Conscious Shipping & Green Delivery
We are committed to minimizing our footprint all the way to your doorstep:
• Packaging: We strive to use as little plastic as possible. Our art prints arrive in sturdy cardboard rolls or reinforced paper envelopes, and our "Wooden Protectors" are delivered in neat, recyclable pizza boxes.
• The Cargo Bike Express: For our Swedish orders, we take the greenest route possible. We personally transport your packages to the post office using our cargo bike to keep local CO2 emissions at a minimum.
• Small-Scale Production: By producing in smaller batches and limited editions, we avoid overproduction and ensure every piece is a unique work of art.
Product Care Guide
To ensure your Modern Totems stay beautiful for years, follow these simple care instructions:
Blankets & Rugs
• Wool: Wool is naturally dirt-resistant. We recommend hanging your wool blankets and rugs outside to air instead of washing. For stains, use a damp cloth or professional dry cleaning.
• Cotton & Recycled Blends: Wash sparingly at low temperatures to preserve the fibers and color vibrancy.
Cushion Covers
• Linen & Cotton: Our screen-printed covers should be washed inside out on a gentle cycle. Avoid tumble drying to protect the print and fabric shape.
Art Prints
• Handling: Riso ink is soy-based and never fully "dries," giving it a unique tactile feel. Handle with care to avoid smudging, and keep prints out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Wooden Protectors
• Maintenance: Simply wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from excessive moisture to protect the eco-certified ash wood and non-toxic finish.
