WHY SIX EYES?
THE STORY BEHIND THE PROTECTOR
Since the very early days of Tropical Scandinavia, we've drawn inspiration from all around the world, especially from symbols we've found while traveling. The greek Mati eye, lucky fish in the Philippines, Indian masks, and so on. While sketching designs together in the very beginning of our journey, the idea for our own empowering modern totems came up.
What we surround ourselves with on a daily basis impacts how we feel, act and react to the world around us - so why not surround ourselves with objects that remind us of our own innate ability to see view world from the bright side, and do whatever we can to spread love and joy around us? It might sound simple, and in a way it really is - it just takes practice. That's why we believe that we can all use a reminder or two in our daily environment.
The Protector is one of those symbols, and probably our most loved design ever. It's inspired by ancient masks that can be found in many cultures all around the world (however Emil has a long history of soul searching in India so that could definitely be the OG inspo place), but it's made with a modern twist. Instead of intending to scare something bad off, it's focus is to protect all the good and fun within! Bad things come and go, there's often nothing we can do about them - but what we can do is take care of our own energy and choose how we react to what's going on. And we know that this is easier said than done sometimes, and that's simply why we can use a reminder every now and then - and that is the job of the Protector!
Oh, and the six eyes? Well, there is so many ways to look at life, and the world is not really "how it is", it's how we choose to perceive it. As Einstein once said: "The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or a hostile universe". So the many eyes serve as a gentle reminder that we can choose our eyes, our perspective, in order to live a more joyful and fulfilled live, which will not only benefit ourselves, but also everyone around us.
